You must have read a lot about me stamping on defining your brand with keywords, it doesn't look like it will make a big shift but trust me, it will. 

The 3 words you choose will have full meaning and help you get unstuck in defining your brand and being clear in your strategies.

How do I choose the keywords?

If your brand personality is 100% aligned onto your brand, it should be easy to define, what type of woman are you, what makes you tick? I can't think of any point trying to make your personality fit into words that are not you. It will be too hard to pretend to be someone you're not. It's like if I would try to be, the in your face, loud and boisterous brand, I know it's not me. It doesn't mean that I can't be the life of the party but I am not like that every day. As a child, I preferred being immersed in books rather than playing games, it says a lot!

Start with your personality, and choose 3 keywords. Now, if you're having a vision of expanding your brand into an agency, take on a team, you might want to extend your keywords selection, how you want your brand to come across to potential customer and the mark you want to leave on the world. 

Take some time to choose these words, do some brainstorming, imagine the words next to your brand how does that feel, nothing stops you from asking existing clients how they perceive your brand? 

Your brand position will derive from the words you choose, if you want a luxury brand, the feel, everything from the logo, the images, the copy, the fonts will be different from a brand who positions herself as bubbly? I am not saying that luxurious can't be joyful it's just that the mindset will be different and the client approach as well. 

What do I do with these keywords?

You've got your three words?  Consider these words as key attributes of your brand. Now let's use these words against all your brand elements. 

  • Logo
  • Images
  • Copy
  • Design
  • Colours
  • Brand Personality

Filter all these elements through these keywords with the idea of being super clear about your brand, don't forget a confused mind says no! What we want is helping you to create a consistent brand because consistency develops trust and sets you out as the expert. Be clear about what your brand is and stick to it, do not try to emulate the competition in the middle of a down period. Just stick to who your brand is, trust you will be successful the way you are because your brand is unique to you. Your choices and values will speak to the right client, if you change your direction, branding every 6 months you won't ever know what's working or not.

Choosing these 3 keywords is also a way to help you keep focus on where you want to go and how you want to help people and make a difference. I know it can be scary to narrow your brands down to the 3 keywords but it will all be worth it at the end.
